Work Experience Needed

It is no secret that employers are likely to hire job seekers with work experience. In fact work experience may be the most significant factor that employers look for in hiring new employees.

However the question for many youth looking for employment is how to get that work experience? This was the same question that I myself faced, both after high school and after university.

The day after launching my online campaign for School Board Trustee, the BBC News discusses one idea that may be the solution to the problem. Coincidence?

Barely heard of in the UK three decades ago, internships have become must-haves on the CV of any young jobseeker. Why?

They are the bright-eyed, smartly-dressed young faces in your office, full of nerves and energy.

If they’re lucky, they will get a valuable insight into the world of employment. If they’re not, they can look forward to hours spent making tea and photocopying.

The work experience placement has become almost a guaranteed rite of passage in an increasingly competitive job market.

The Question to the Atheist

If atheists love more than an all loving God, why do they act as if they are superior than the religious majority of the world?

Update: August 16, 2010

The question really is badly framed. The thought is more:

If atheists are so condescending towards religious belief, how do they expect to be respectful to the majority of the world who is religious?

The Lion and the Gazelle

An African proverb best summarizes my life after graduation…

Every morning in Africa, a gazelle awakens. He has only one thought on his mind: To be able to run faster than the fastest lion. If he cannot, then he will be eaten.

Every morning in Africa a lion awakens. She has only one thought on his mind: To be able to run faster than the slowest gazelle. If she cannot, she will die of hunger.

Whether you choose to be a gazelle or a lion is of no consequence. It is enough to know that with the rising of the sun, you must run. And you must run faster than you did yesterday or you will die.

This is the race of life.

Moral of the story: Don’t have weak knees.
